Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve never had to work out to maintain my figure because of my fast metabolism despite how big of an appetite I have. Apparently, my metabolism is already slowing down and I’m starting to gain a lot of weight. Over the course of the past year and a half, I’ve gained at least 10lbs and went up one jean size. I’ve gained some "pudge" in the stomach area and my hips seem wider and my thighs have become a little rounder. I want to get back into shape and maintain a healthy weight. (my weight right now is NOT healthy; I’ve been eating fast-food almost every day for the past three-four months -__-) I want to start working out and obviously changing my diet, like running or doing sit-ups but I have no clue where to start; I have no idea how much I should run or how many sit-ups I should do every day or what kinds of foods I should eat… I’ve never really worked out before. I’m aiming to lose at least ten to fifteen pounds by my 18th birthday (July 2012). What can I do to get my flat tummy back, maintain it and shed those pounds?
A few facts:
My freshman/sophomore year, I was 5’3" and 110-112lbs. I am now a senior in high school and I weigh 125lbs, 5’3 1/2". Most of the weight I’ve gained is concentrated on my stomach, hips and thighs :/
*Also: A gym membership is not in my budget /: all I have is a treadmill
Restrict your diet to 1200-1500 Calories a day. Say goodbye to junk food on a daily basis. Cut down your sugar, sodium, and increase your protein. Start yourself off slow. For the first 3 days, time how much aerobic exercise you can do. You have a treadmill, use the timer… keep increasing the time as you go along. You should average 30-45 minutes every day.
Tip: To burn more calories on treadmill, move your arms and take wider steps to really feel the muscles stretch!
There is no such thing as "spot" weight loss. Doing crunches will not make you lose belly flab, running will not make your legs thinner, etc. You should start doing easy strength training exercises 2 or 3 times a week. Make sure to rest (a day or two) in between strength training exercises and do reps… 12 crunches at a time, rest for a moment, resume. For 30 minutes or how much you can handle each day. Your body will start getting used to these exercises so you might eventually need to add more weight to the resistance or work out longer. Crunches with any sort of weight, lunges, squats, and pushups are all ways to build your muscle without any real gym equipment.
In order to lose weight, having muscle will make it easier. Don’t worry about looking "masculine" because it doesn’t happen to girls who are just looking to "tone" You’d need to take protein supplements and do weightlifting for a very long time to even remotely look "manly". Women don’t have as much testosterone as men, and it’s sometimes genetic too.
Tip: For better crunches, try using a 3 to 5lb weight to add resistance. Keep the weight in both hands behind your head and come up as much as you can. Adding resistance helps build muscle. You will see results in strength within days of starting. (No joke) The weight will come off slowly…. 1 or 2 pounds a week lost is a healthy pace. Make sure to be patient. The first two or three days are killer but it slowly becomes part of your daily routine and addicting!
As for diet:
EAT BREAKFAST! Within 30 minutes of waking up, consume at least 200-300 calories. One egg, or cereal with juice, or other whole wheats are great.
Divide lunch into two small snack-ish meals…
Skip the huge McDz meal and 3 hours after breakfast or so, have a salad or some fruits… then a little later have a bit more food. Anything is good really. Soup, some chicken, salad, fruits, veggies, whatever!
Dinner is at your discretion.. you need a minimum of 1300 calories, so… enjoy whatever you like. Don’t restrict yourself just because you want to lose weight, but don’t go crazy. You can have junkfood so long as you make up for it later.
Exercise is great around mid-day..or evening. 6 or 7 PM. Do aerobic every day for at least 30 minutes once you’re on track, which strength training twice a week for 30 minutes. You’ll feel amazing and being healthy alone is worth it. The weight comes off when you least expect it. I think you stop caring about losing it at a certain point and just focus on the high you get from running and exercising.

I have been eating very healthy — cut out fried foods and soft drinks, also high in sugar foods
For the past month, I have been working out about every other day.
I have good looking arms and legs, I have never considered myself fat. I would say I am average. Except, from the top of my belly button, to thethornton of my waist line is not pretty. It’s about 2-3 pounds of not cute. I just want a flat stomach— that’s all! I don’t care about how much I weigh or anything. What are the secrets to get that flat tummy?
Twisting at the waistline! Selena the queen of tejano was famous for her amazing figure considering she was not a fan of your typical exercising workout programs. What she did was twisting at her waistline while dancing such as salsa dancing. She would move her feet keeping them close together and putting one foot in front of the other by moving her hips and getting the momentum mainly from twisting at her waist. Go to youtube and search for selena quintanilla perez baila. She also moved her arms one at a time all the way up towards the sky almost as if she were doing the back stroke. This helped stretch and strengthen her abs that eventually help to flaten her stomache. Search selena quintanilla perez carcacha. I have had the same problem with my tummy the above info mentioned helps. In addition do crunches by laying on floor and begin with both hands behind neck. As you crunch up take your right elbow and meet it with your left knee. Your legs get a work out as well. Once your elbow and knee have met exhail. Inhail while going back to begining position then take your left elbow meeting your right knee. Do this at a comfortable pace 25 times begin count each time an elbow meets a kneecap. At 25 begin another 25 really really fast. Then repeat another 25 at the comfortable speed you began with. The final exercise: begin standing up legs shoulder width apart. Both hands touching back of neck. Lift your right leg up towards the sky, your knee cap will meet your left elbow obviously you will twist at the waist bending slightly forward so this is actually possible. Then lift your left leg meeting your right elbow repeat 24 times. Do this little bit for the first three days and you see results immediately. From there on it is up to you to change up the amount of crunches. Your body will get used to the same routine if you don’t change it frequently. Now for the gross part, a stinky girl is a skinny girl! The first thing each morning in your stomach has to be a fruit or a veggie. I like either a minimum of 4 slices of apple or baby carrots. No broccoli, calaflour. This sets off your digestive track in the correct motion for the entire day. Don’t mix your fruit or veggie with any dairy product eat it alone. Then you can have yor bowl of cereal or yogurt. Calcium in the body first thing in the morning can contribute to constipation. If you take calcium supplements take them at lunch time that way you have the remaining day to digest it. You should have two servings of dairy each day to help your metabolism. And if at any time you get bloated eat a lemon wedge(not half of the lemon) then without gulping drink a glass of ROOM TEMP water. Wait 15 minutes and you will be bloat free. I was inspired to do a series of videos on Core and Ab exercises due to the number of questions I have received on the subject. Everyone wants a flat stomach it is a sign of good health and a solid physique. Getting a flat stomach is not obtained through exercise alone, it requires three elements.
1. Diet – Eating right is crucial to getting a flat stomach.
2. Cardio – running, circuit training, walking, jumping rope, or punching the bag anything that elevates your heart rate so that you become a calorie burning machine.
3. Core exercises – Working out your abs alone won’t get you a flat stomach it requires using multi layered muscle exercises that work the muscles between your neck and your hips.
This video covers the 5 exercises that I use regularly combined within routines and within my own core workouts.
1. Around the world – Shoulder and Core
2. Straight Bicep curl – Arm and Core
3. Ab Roll Out – Abs and Core
4. Shoulder Push Press – Shoulder and Core
5. Plank – Abs and Core
Here is an example of how to use these exercises within your routine and as a workout on their own.
Workout your Core and Abs between 2 to 3 times a week.
AROUND THE WORLD & SHOULDER PUSH PRESS

Do this in circuit training format:
Circuit training is when you complete one exercise then proceed to the next exercise.
Straight bar Bicep curl – 10 to 12 reps
Rest 15 seconds
move on to next exercise
Ab Roll Out – 10 to 12 reps rest 15 seconds –
move on to next exercise
Shoulder Push Press or Around the world – 10 to 12 reps
Rest 15 seconds
move on to next exercise
Plank – hold position for one minute
Rest 30 seconds and repeat circuit

I’m a 13yrs old girl. My height is about 5’2 or 5’3. I weigh 55kgs (121pounds) and I’m really unhappy with my weight. I was planning to try to daily exercise, but my mom told me that if I will stop exercising for a long while or maybe even for good (Since I’m really lazy) after I get in shape, I will still gain weight again. Is that really true ? I also don’t really move a lot now, since its summer holidays, no school or anything, I usually just eat, sleep and stay in front of the computer until dawn, lol. Very unhealthy, I know. I want to lose at least 5~7kgs more and have a flat tummy. I have baby fats. I also have trouble eating too much, I eat a lot in a day, even at times when I’m not even hungry, how to avoid eating when you’re not even hungry ? And do you have any suggestions on how can I lose enough weight and have a flat stomach ? Please help me! Thank you so much in advance! God bless! xx And no rude answers please!
I seriously don’t have a flat stomach which makes me really upset. I’m just full of fats everywhere, even my arms are like jelly-ish, lol. Just saying just in case you might think I’m perfect the way I am or something. xD;

That’s a good weight. I’m 16, 5’3-5’4 and 122 and it’s healthy. If you want to lose fat in your stomach area, you have to do cardiovascular activity. That’s the only way you’ll burn off the fat. You’ve got to be dedicated to do it every day for at least 30 minutes. Activities like biking, running, jogging, swimming. Also, control your food intake. You need to drink more water. You’re most likely just dehydrated instead of hungry. You’re eating when you’re not hungry and that’s normal; you’re bored. Don’t eat drink water, but if you really do want to eat, eat something nutritional such as a handful of nuts or celery or broccoli. Our bodies need 8-10 glasses of water every day. You need to be eating 4-5 small meals a day. Don’t eat so many carbs too, especially bread. Eat more fruits and veggies.

I want a flat tummy, I workout and everything, but i am just not seeing great results. I think it is because i eat too many calories. How many calories should i consume each day if i want to get a flat belly in 2-3 weeks?? I was thinking 1500. Should i eat more or less. Also, do ppl get flatter tummies but cutting down on calories?? I wasn’t too sure about that. lol
PS i am not fat, i just have a little extra fat on my tummy I wanna get rid of. thats it
I suggest reducing your calorie intake to around 1200 calories a day.
People get flatter tummies by doing cardio (around 45-60 minutes of it 4-5 times a week), and abdominal exercises (crunches, side crunches, etc.).

No i am not pregnant. Im a 20 yr old who goes to college and ive been eating to stay awake for exams. My legs and arms are fine but its just my tummy that fat. I don’t care about losing weight i just care about getting a flat stomach.
Is it possible to lose my ugly belly without running? I have a heart problem n i get tired very very easily. How easily? Let’s just say that when i was in high school, i didn’t have to do the 4 laps on the field for PE class.(slip from the doctor. Ya lucky)
Lately ive been doing crunches on the floor and the big ball for 25min-45 min, 2 times a day n using my brothers weights( not much). My brother said it wont work unless i run but i don’t believe that bcuz baq in 2007 i worked out for 2 months n got a flat tummy( not very flat but enough to know i have lost the extra fat). I want to believe in myself but idk anymore..
Will that work to get my tummy flat by not running?
i want it to be flat by around April 21 cuz that’s my birthday(21 yaya)
crunches and sit ups are the best. Do them until it hurts and then do a few more. If it hurts you are getting the exercise you need, if it doesn’t hurt then you are only maintaining what you have. Hopefully you don’t get tired and quit. If you get tired, then rest and continue as soon as possible. Try to workout at least 30 minutes continuously and for an hour a day.
